Distressing an antique rug begins with sheering down the portions of high pile.  Next, stone washing the rug breaks down the fibers creating a 17th century aged look.  Once the desired texture is achieved, the rug mellows in the sun for a few weeks or sometimes months until the colors soften.  Then once again we give the rug a final detailed cleaning.  Some of these distressed masterpieces have more worn areas and holes than others that can be addressed upon request.
